Here is my first project with this yummy line. I LOVE the colors! I love that you can make it bright or softer! I can’t wait to make more! The family tree “title” is from the sheet of odds & ends. My brain immediately thought about that quote about fruits and nuts, and this photo came to mind. I’ve already used this photo before, but I love it so much I had to use it again. We ARE a little nutty!!!

April asked us to say something about our homes in these posts…I’m not really sure what to say about it though. I don’t love it. I’m not very “at home” here. My family makes me feel at home though, so wherever they are, I’m home. I left my heart on the East Coast. God has done a LOT of work on me and my family here on the West Coast, but my true heart is still with my mom and dad and brothers and sister in laws and nephews and nieces on the East Coast. Someday we’ll make it back to them, but until then…here I am.

I love the fab-rips pleated flower on your layout, too, as well as your useage of the ampersand stamp and the “family tree” element from the line! Your comment about your home reminds me of one of the explanations my Humanities professor – herself a classics scholar – gave for why, in The Odyssey, it’s so vital for Odysseus to actually return to Ithaca, given that he has so many opportunities to thrive elsewhere – her explanation is that for the Greeks in this period, you can not truly be your ultimate self unless you are home, where everyone is conscious of your renown, et al. Thus, I suspect that you can blame Homer for your sense of displacement!

I love how you used those “extras” like the FabRips and the odds and ends sheet. I know what you mean about being with your extended family. I’m not that far away from my parents and sisters, but I always wish we could live next to each other.
I know exactly how you feel. We’ve lived here for 4 years, and while my family is close by, this town has never felt like “home” to me. Hopefully someday soon, there will be a change and it will be better—for both of us!

My husband moved away from his family, 9 years ago now. He isn’t the happiest here, but fortunately his family has a summer home about 3.5 hours away, so we are able to meet up with them a lot. I was the baby & couldn’t leave my family. Lucky for me, my DH let me stay.

I lived almost 4 years of my life where I did not feel like home too but now I am very happy to be here in Germany again with my husband and babies. My “home” will always be wherever my family is too – I will probably always miss the East Coast compared to the southern state I currently live in, but I’ve also learned that there are advantages and disadvantages to everything. And I’ve learned that as long as there is room in your heart, there’s room in your home
