Card Class
I did a 5 for $5 card class at my church last night. I had 22 people show up!!! It was so fun. I made 18 cards, and let them pick their 5 favorites. Man, it was seriously fun. I loved coming up with the ideas, and the ladies and girls loved executing them! We will TOTALLY do this again soon. Maybe this spring, make some general every day cards.
My process for this was:
1) Buy a bunch of Valentine’s papers.
2) come up with some sketches and ideas I wanted to try.
3) Dig through papers and find OTHER Valentine’s papers
4) make a mock up, and if I liked it, then made the cut outs for several people to make the card.
I was working with 3.5 by 5 cards, so I discovered I could make 6 cards with a 12×12 sheet of paper. One sample and 5 for people to make. I also was making cards for a variety of ages, Girls 5-9 Teens 12-16 and Ladies. I wanted everyone to find 5 cards that they really liked, and really enjoyed making.
I worked on this for the entire week of evenings, but it was totally worth it. I loved the results, and it made me so happy to see everyone having fun. It was a RESOUNDING success.
Here’s what we made:
I *heart* my cricut! It got used on EVERY card. If you want any details just let me know, I’ll tell you cartridge names or paper manufacturers. Also, BIG UPS to my girl Darcie. She came through with all the $1 Valentine stamps from Studio G. (Hampton Arts) The stamps were a big help!!!

As always, so beautiful. Sounds like fun, too!
Joy, your cards are excellent. i am so happy your card class was a complete success. Lucky ladies for getting to attend your class.

Joy–I love this idea. I would love to do something similar for our church.
I love the mix of cards to appeal to the different age groups.
UR (the bomb) is so witty! (although I could see how it might not appeal to the older crowd.
Just SUPER!!!!
Looks like a fun class! I haven’t been that impressed with the cricut, but seeing your work makes me want to try it more!

Hello? Is this thing on???
Sweet cards! It makes me want a cricut for sure! I love the BEE MINE…that is my favorite!
As usual I love your blog…I have been absent for awhile! Trying to work out, be a mom to the three little Polish boys, teaching school and being a student has put a serious damper on my creativity…that is why I visit here…to live vicariously!
