Internet Communication
I have two different things going on right now that I’m not suposed to talk to anyone but my dh about. But they both are things that weigh heavily on my mind. One is extremely exciting, and one is pretty scary and sad, okay okay, but on with it. I like belonging to email communities on the net, b/c I can talk to them about these pressing issues and not be afraid that things will “get out” about what I’m talking about. I belong to one Christian mom’s group, and one other mom’s group, and I can really tell them about stuff I probably wouldn’t reveal to my friends, b/c I’m embarrassed or not allowed to, or whatever.
I can see where you would run into problems with this, if this became your only form of friendship or communication. I’m not afraid of that happening to me, but I know that there is a new area of psychological study out there now, b/c of the effects that the internet has on the way we relate to each other. I must admit that even before the advance of internet technology on my life, I was able to be much more honest and forthright in a letter, or even on the telephone, b/c I didn’t have to see the persons reaction to what I was saying.
Where does this lead us in the future? Into a faceless society, or into a society where our relationships and communication is complimented by the things we’ve learned surfing the net!

it’s an interesting point – my girl is on at least a couple of those chat rooms. Not me – This is the only one I post to outside of my online classes ;P
This topic is something that we’ve discussed in my sociology class. The Internet has and will continue to alter human communication flow. For better or worse, the Net is a communication tool that is here to stay.
One thing I definitely miss in online communiques, is the subtle inferences you get from talking to people in person. Without tone of voice, body language and other gestures, it is easy to get wires crossed. Someone post something – your in a bad mood – so you react negatively towards it and flame them… starts a viscuos cycle that might not be fixable. They meant it one way, you take it in another (and visa versa) – kinda messed up.
That’s why the emoticons exist but they are a poor substitute to the real thing.
heheheheheh – “Emoticons” sounds like some splinter cell of Transformers
what are these “things”? oh wait yeah i know what they are.
but yeah, we all need people to talk to. sometimes we get into a rut where we’re afraid to talk to real people about situations, but then we go to the Net to talk about it, where, in reality, it’s probably easier for the news to travel worldwide much more quickly
then again, the effect may not be the same, given our view of what we see on the Net and TV and what not as “entertainment”–there’s something “not real” about what we view on our screens.
i’m beginning to ramble, but wanted to comment to at least let you know i read this, and some good thoughts.
What u feel is something that is real. It is not your fault. its that the baby was not ready so you should always remain steady. Think of it as a sign, or as a blessing. It is a gift your giving. Not for it living. It remains within you. when ever your felling blue. Its in your heart. It’s never apart. See all you need is to believe, because that is what it all came to be.
To my Aunt Joy
wishing u all the
best
Poets treat their experiences shamelessly: they exploit them.
The will to overcome an affect is ultimately only the will of another, or of several other, affects.
In such a highly developed humanity as the present, each individual naturally has access to many talents. Each has an inborn talent, but only in a few is that degree of toughness, endurance, and energy born and trained that he really becomes a talent, bec
The disappointed one speaks. I searched for great human beings; I always found only the apes of their ideals.
It is terrible to die of thirst in the ocean. Do you have to salt your truth so heavily that it does not even-quench thirst any more?
Iron necessity.- Iron necessity is a thing which has been found, in the course of history, to be neither iron nor necessary.
