Studio Calico March Reveal

February 28th, 2010

Last night was the Studio Calico reveal. The kit is gorgeous, but unfortunately sold out relatively quickly.

The DT gallery was gorgeous this month too. Here’s what I did for this month.

favs

This is mostly done with the HoneyComb add on kit and was a lift of a Studio Calico member QingMei!

easter finery

This one was with photos from last years Easter Sunday. I loved these photos that we took as a family, and they matched the Dear Lizzy papers perfectly!

safe harbor

This one used one of the flags from the banner kit (patchwork) Just a little appreciation for Jon, who has been great during my whole pregnancy.

a hunny dolla

This layout is mostly using the main kit and more patterned paper. Peices of it are from Wedding Ring. We gave my niece Lexi a hunny dolla in ones, and I wanted to capture that moment! I tend to have a hard time with Jenni Bowlin papers, so I’m happy that this one turned out and I even like it :D

adore banner

Is what I did with the project kit PatchWork. I love how it turned out!! It will hang somewhere in Baby J’s room!

Two more layouts to share here. I haven’t shared any Anthology or HomeFront layouts recently. Here are two I’ve done in the past month or so.

December 2

December 2nd, 2009

Today was a chill day. I didn’t even wake up until 10 :)

The kids and I stayed at home all day…we had school in the morning, napped in the afternoon, and ate pizza with the ‘rents in the evening. We watched a silly Disney made for tv Christmas movie. That was pretty much our whole day, all in all just chill.

When I’m at my parents house, life seems easier…its easier with the kids….there’s usually at least 2 more adults there to help…its easier to clean…because they keep it clean…its easier to ignore the kids, they have a huge basement I can banish the kids to. Its a vacation from my real life.

The kids and I are on the East Coast

Daddy left today back to the West Coast.

We homeschool, so for the last few years we’ve been able to stay at my mom and dad’s house for the whole month of December. It’s a blessing, because we don’t get to see them very much, but we miss Daddy when he’s gone.

We’ll be spending the month doing all sorts of fun things. We’ve already visited a few friends, and will continue to get back together with old friends while we are here. There will be lots of Christmas events, and cookie making, and scrapbooking, and of course, eating.

Last week we spent the week with our whole Burtram family. It was mad fun. So much was jammed into those 5 days…we really are blessed. I wish we all lived closer to each other, but it is an amazing thing when we all get together.

I’ll post photos soon.

Here is my first project with this yummy line. I LOVE the colors! I love that you can make it bright or softer! I can’t wait to make more! The family tree “title” is from the sheet of odds & ends. My brain immediately thought about that quote about fruits and nuts, and this photo came to mind. I’ve already used this photo before, but I love it so much I had to use it again. We ARE a little nutty!!!

I love the FabRips in this line! They make PERFECT pleated flowers!

April asked us to say something about our homes in these posts…I’m not really sure what to say about it though. I don’t love it. I’m not very “at home” here. My family makes me feel at home though, so wherever they are, I’m home. I left my heart on the East Coast. God has done a LOT of work on me and my family here on the West Coast, but my true heart is still with my mom and dad and brothers and sister in laws and nephews and nieces on the East Coast. Someday we’ll make it back to them, but until then…here I am.

Post comments until Wednesday morning at 12 a.m. here for the blog hop, and I’ll pick a winner on Wednesday when I get up :) Word Press immediately puts comments into moderation if it doesn’t recognize you, so be patient. I’ll approve all comments!!

{edited to add, STUPID BLOG, didn’t post yesterday :( I’m so so so so sorry!!!!}

partoftheparty

Last week Shimelle invited me to join her blog party as a jumping off place for her new class Go To Press, and I jumped at the chance. The class starts Monday and is about reducing stress in scrapbooking and getting more out of your printer. There is a set of 20 printables that come with the class.

I got so excited with my assignment that I made two projects for the blog party. Here they be:

I printed out the Family themed printables on Kraft paper. I love how this turned out with our family photos from this past December.

I love love loved this Indulgence themed printable. I printed it on Bazzill Dotted Swiss CS and it turned out perfectly. I messed up my first cupcake journaling spot. I ended up cutting out the cupcake and pop dotting it for Umph on another journaling spot. I love how this card turned out. This printable TOTALLY made me smile.

This blog party is almost at its end, but you can always go back and view ALL the lovliness on Shimelle’s blog. If you want to play with these fabu printables, sign up for the class. It starts tomorrow!!

Poor Blog…

August 1st, 2009

Why are all my posts saying “I am neglecting my blog”? Probably b/c between homeschooling (we are on break now, but during the school year) and facebook, this baby of mine…that I’ve had for longer than my youngest daughter, has taken a back seat. I started this blog at the SUPERDY DUPER cusp of the “blog” phenom. It was April 2003. I was in the 2nd trimester of my 3rd pregnancy. Within the first month of this blog’s existence I lost my baby. This was a good way to write and put my feelings out there in the universe without too many people reading it. Does that make sense? It wasn’t a “diary” per se, but it wasn’t being consumed by a ton of people. I also had just started scrapbooking!! I had found the love of my crafting life. I had always been “angsty” but for no reason, NOW I was an ARTISTE!!

gappy

(a layout from WAY back in the day)

Over the last 6 years I’ve had a baby, moved to Seattle, and scrapbooked a MILLION layouts! I’ve discovered Facebook and Hulu. I’ve become a homeschooler, and a sunday school teacher. I’ve done a lot of things. I used to tell about them all here, but I’ve kind of stopped doing that. I’m sorry.

super kids

(another oldie!)

So the blog is looking a tad ugly of late. I DO have a live in tech geek. But he does have a full time tech geek job, AND a bunch of side jobs. My blog is pretty far down on the geek’s list. (He DID add my tweets to the side bar recently though!!! THANKS GEEK!) We will be prettifying the blog eventually, but just bear with me for awhile.

noisyboy

I have good intentions. I am intending to post more. There I said it. I’m going to schedule it in. Hold me to it, okay?

With this kit Studio Calico is celebrating its two year anniversary! Congrats April and Scarlet!!! The kit is sold out, but this is my take on it. I had my parents here this month, so I didn’t get a lot of layouts done.

Happy May Day!!

May 1st, 2009

The kids and I made may baskets and delivered them to the neighbors today. It was so much fun. The kids helped make the cards, and I made the baskets out of white paper bags, tied with a ribbon handle (actually its selvage edging cut off a huge roll of fabric – my friend Leah gave it to me!) I tied a ribbon around the middle and tied our cards on there. I made the cards with the Walk in My Garden cartridge and the cricut, and the kids decorated them.
